When it’s raining but the weather app says it’s supposed to be sunny

September 8, 2018 by JenPerry 1 Comment

Hi there! Welcome to my first ever video!

It’s raining! – On a Sunday afternoon and I was looking for the sun!

This video is about embracing what is and learning how not to struggle with how we expect things to be.  Inspired by a rainy Sunday afternoon when the weather app said it should be sunny. I had “expected” to see sunshine, however, that’s not what was really happening.

In my work as a therapist, I see so much suffering due to this argument between how we think things should go and what is really happening. When we choose to live with expectations instead of living in acceptance – it can be the culprit of major disappointment in our lives.

This suffering, this wounding, can be especially intense if it is internalized.  That means when we don’t think we are how we should be, there is something deeply flawed or wrong with us.  When things don’t go as planned or you have reactions or emotions that surprise you, it isn’t because you are flawed.  You are a human being and as such, you can’t “do human” wrong.  The next time it’s raining, let it be a reminder things don’t always fo the way we expect them to!

So grab a cup of coffee, pull up a comfy chair and join me in the “weather app” conversation!

If you are interested in scheduling an appointment and start living in acceptance, please do reach out. I’d love to answer any questions you might have. Contact me here to start your journey!
